  • Inspector-General Of Police , Mr Ibrahim Idris has vowed that the police would rescue the school children abducted by suspected militants at Lagos State
Model Junior and Senior in Igbonla area of Epe.

Six students and two principals of the school were kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be militants
making it the second time the school was attacked and students and Teachers were kidnapped.

The IGP, who spoke yesterday during the closing ceremony of Explosive Ordinance Disposal
(EOD)  Mentorship Training Course organized for the EOD personnel by the united State Embassy at Ikeja , Lagos, said  in no
distance time the children would be rescued and those who abducted them fished out and made to face the wrath of the law.

The IGP ,who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General Of  Police in charge of
operations, Mr Joshak Habila, said:”we are on top of the situation.

Crime is bound to happen and when it happens, what we should concern ourselves is how to
solve the problem  and that is what we are doing. we are not joking and you know that we are very serious when it comes to the issue
of crime fighting especially  kidnapping.

It is on record that we have cracked high profile kidnappings and arrested the kidnappers.
This one is not a different case.

we are working round the clock and synergizing with sister agencies on how to rescue
the children and arrest those behind the dastardly act.

As you all know  , police can’t be everywhere at the same time because keeping the police  permanently in a secondary school is not
even the best as it will affect the psychology of the students.

“The school  is surrounded by water and  we have fishermen fishing in the water .They will see strange faces coming with speed boats
and  they will keep quite.

The villagers will see strange people in their land and they will not call the police.

People should embrace community policing and provide adequate information to the Police .That is the  only way , we can fight the kidnappers to standstill. If
you see something say something .

The IGP has described the kidnap of the school children as unfortunate and he has appealed to the school authority and parents of those
abducted to remain calm as the force will rescue them and bring the perpetrators to justice

.He has given matching order that the children must be rescued in no distance time because we will get the hoodlums “.

“Boko Haram is a different terrorism from other ones we know worldwide, but, the military has dealfth with them and we are moving in as the
military is leaving.

We have been there with the military and now we will be left alone, but, with the training
by the Us government, we have no fear as the hoodlums are in for the worst.

DIG Habila revealed that the Army was packing out of some places in the North east were
they have cleared the Boko Haram insurgents and the police have been asked to move in, “that is why the training of 60 EOD personnel by
US Embassy in Abuja is timely.

The officers were selected from different troubled areas and they are now well equipped with trainings .They will domesticate the training  by bringing  down what they learnt to other officers in their
commands.
