The Federal Government has debunked allegation of an improper concession of the Port Harcourt Refinery, following
an oversight hearing at the National Assembly.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, made the clarification on Thursday while
addressing a press conference at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation tower in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

At the conference Dr. Ibe Kachikwu made it clear that government would not for any reason sell or concede
Nigeria’s oil refineries to private firms contrary to the public speculations.

The Minister, reveals that the government would partner with third-party financiers to engage the original builders of
the nation’s three refineries to fully restore the moribund facilities with original parts.

‘’The reason we will go back to them is because they have the designs, they have the engineering outlay, they have the
capabilities and in some case, they have access to spare parts’’, he said.
